魯迅是中國著名的文學家,思想家和革命家。其小說寓意深刻,善于反映中國的現狀以及國民性,運用多種修辭手段刻畫人物、烘托時代背景。然而,很多中外讀者讀不懂魯迅的小說,尤其是涉及到小說中的隱喻表達。楊憲益夫婦作為國內外知名翻譯家,為傳播中國文化,翻譯了一系列作品,受到讀者的歡迎,其中包括魯迅的三部小說《吶喊》、《彷徨》以及《故事新編》。本文以楊憲益譯本《吶喊》和《彷徨》為文本,以喬治·萊考夫和馬克·約翰遜的概念隱喻理論為理論框架,通過整合、分析其中具有代表性的人名和稱謂隱喻、顏色隱喻以及人體隱喻的翻譯,探討兩本小說中三類隱喻的隱喻翻譯策略。本文選取、分析《吶喊》和《彷徨》中典型人名和稱謂隱喻例子,總結出六種姓名和稱謂隱喻的構建方式,分別是諧音命名法、一詞多義命名法、蘊含期望命名法、富含生理特征命名法、職業命名法以及陰陽五行命名法。本文作者發現楊憲益夫婦主要采用直譯和意譯的翻譯策略。由于姓名和稱謂隱喻自身的特點,本文作者總結出三種具體翻譯方法:音譯,釋譯和加注,準確地表達了魯迅想要向讀者傳達的姓名和稱謂隱喻意義,揭示了小說里人物的性格和命運以及小說主題。其次,本文收集《吶喊》和《彷徨》中的顏色隱喻,總結出九種基本顏色,分別是黑色、白色、紅色、灰色、藍色、黃色、紫色、綠色以及粉色,然后以基本顏色為單位,細分了不同顏色的隱喻意義。通過隱喻識別和總結,本文作者發現楊憲益夫婦依據文化多樣性以及具體文學語境,采取保持同種或相似顏色,改變顏色以及去掉顏色直接表達顏色的隱含意義,生動形象地刻畫了人物性格、準確地描述了當時社會環境,揭示了人物的命運和小說的主題。最后,本文根據跨域映射,把人體隱喻構建的方式分為三類:人體到非人體,非人體到人體,以及人體到人體。作者發現楊憲益夫婦根據英漢文化的差異以及詞匯的發展,主要采用保留喻體、重新建構喻體以及省略喻體處理人體隱喻翻譯。本文旨在幫助中外讀者加深對魯迅小說的理解,展示中文的魅力,同時也希望為以后的青年譯者提供更多實用的翻譯技巧,為推動中國文化的傳播,促進中外文化交流做貢獻。
